President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has reaffirmed that developing the coconut industry remains a top priority, with sustained government support aimed at increasing production and improving the welfare of coconut farmers.

During the third Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting in Malacañang, the President approved 21 priority bills, including proposed amendments to the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund Act.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos Jr. stressed the need to help coconut farmers, noting that the Philippines is the world’s second-largest coconut producer and exporter.

In 2024, the country produced 14.77 million metric tons of coconuts, next to Indonesia.

The administration expects strengthened industry programs to raise farmers’ incomes and solidify the country’s standing in the global agricultural market.IMT
