President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co to return to the Philippines and face graft and malversation charges linked to an alleged flood control scam, instead of issuing accusations from hiding.

Marcos Jr. brushed aside Co’s claims, saying they “mean nothing” if he refuses to come home and prove them.

“Ba’t ka nagtatago sa malayo? Ako hindi ako nagtatago eh. Kung mayroon kang akusasyon sa akin, nandito ako. Gawin niyang pareho. At para patas lang naman,” he said.

Co and 15 others face warrants of arrest over an anomalous Oriental Mindoro flood control project.

The President said several co-accused are already in custody and called on the rest—including Co—to surrender.

The Ombudsman filed the charges based on findings of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure and the DPWH.IMT
