President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, Jan. 5, vowed to ensure that every peso of the P6.793-trillion 2026 national budget will directly benefit Filipinos and will not fall into corruption.

During the signing of the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA), Marcos Jr. said all programs and projects will undergo strict scrutiny to ensure clear and tangible benefits, especially for the most vulnerable sectors.

“Hindi tayo papayag na mapunta sa kurakot ang salaping pinaghirapan ng bawat Pilipino,” according to him.

The President said the 2026 budget reflects the administration’s commitment to more prudent, careful, and responsible spending, while sustaining gains in education reform, health protection, food security, social protection, and job creation.

Marcos Jr: also assured stronger efforts to improve government systems, enhance accountability, and fight corruption, while urging the public to actively monitor and participate to ensure the national budget truly serves the people.IMT
