The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) will roll out a website where the public can report fake news spreading on social media and other digital platforms.
PCO Usec. Claire Castro stressed the government will go after those behind misinformation. “Gagawa ang PCO ng isang website… kung saan niyo isusumbong lahat ng fake news… at lahat ‘yan ay dapat sampahan ng kaso,” she said.
Earlier, the PCO launched “Oplan Kontra Fake News” and an Anti-Fake News Desk with support from nine major media outlets to strengthen the fight against disinformation.
The agency has also referred at least three fake news posts on the country’s energy issue to the DOJ for investigation. Officials warned that those spreading false information, especially about the First Family, may face legal action.
PCO also debunked rumors about the President’s health and alleged government inaction, saying the public can clearly see the administration at work.IMT
