Philippine ties with Iran remain “vibrant,” according to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, as Tehran assured safe passage for Philippine-bound vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
Upon the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DFA engaged Iran on securing routes for Philippine-flagged ships.
Castro said Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi gave assurances of “safe and peaceful passage” for vessels carrying energy supplies and Filipino crew.
The guarantee covers both the safety of Filipinos and the uninterrupted flow of oil and fertilizer shipments.
“Matitiyak din nito ang tuloy-tuloy na delivery ng langis at fertilizer supplies sa Pilipinas,” said Castro.
Malacañang maintained it is on top of the situation, with Marcos leading efforts to safeguard oil supply while exploring alternative petroleum sources worldwide, including non-traditional suppliers.IMT
