President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has welcomed the signing of 10 agreements between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea during the state visit of President Lee Jae Myung in Malacañang.

Marcos Jr. said the deals cover defense materials procurement, veterans affairs, agriculture, trade and investment, intellectual property, digital cooperation and innovation, Korean language training in schools, cultural exchanges, and police cooperation, following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership in 2024. Among the key agreements signed were digital cooperation between the Department of Information and Communications Technology and Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT; defense procurement arrangements between the Department of National Defense and Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration; agriculture cooperation between the Department of Agriculture and Korea’s agriculture ministry; and trade and investment ties between the Department of Trade and Industry and its Korean counterpart.

Also inked were agreements on intellectual property protection, technology and innovation programs, Korean language training in Philippine schools, cultural cooperation between the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Korea’s culture ministry, and police cooperation between the Philippine National Police and the Korean National Police Agency.

The Palace said the agreements aim to sustain momentum in bilateral cooperation and expand collaboration in key sectors of mutual interest.IMT
