Through Memorandum Circular No. 99, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin emphasized that the 1975 heavyweight bout between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier at the Araneta Coliseum was not just a legendary fight but also a cultural event that placed the Philippines on the world stage.
“All government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, are hereby directed, and all LGUs, non-government organizations, and the private sector, are hereby encouraged, to extend full support and assistance to PSC in the successful celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Thrilla in Manila,” the circular stated.
The PSC will spearhead the activities and coordinate with other agencies in line with the state policy of promoting sports, culture, and national pride.IMT
