More than 200 clinics across Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental, are now accredited to provide services under the PhilHealth Yaman ng Kalusugan Para Malayo sa Sakit (YAKAP) program, boosting access to free consultations, laboratory tests, and essential medicines in the region.
PhilHealth-6 Public Affairs Office chief Janimhe Jalbuna said in a radio interview that as of June 2025, accredited YAKAP clinics include 24 in Aklan, 30 in Antique, 23 in Capiz, 11 in Guimaras, 65 in Iloilo, and 49 in Negros Occidental.
The facilities are now open for registration and service availment.
YAKAP, an expanded version of PhilHealth’s Konsulta initiative, focuses on preventive care and early detection of illnesses.
The program’s coverage includes free medical check-ups, counseling, and referrals; free laboratory tests and screenings for breast, lung, liver, and colorectal cancers; and access to up to 75 medicines under the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) program.
Patients may receive as much as ₱20,000 in annual outpatient drug benefits.
Jalbuna clarified that accreditation of pharmacies as GAMOT providers is ongoing, ensuring that beneficiaries will have convenient access to prescribed medicines across the region.
Through YAKAP, PhilHealth aims to reduce the burden of costly hospital treatments by strengthening primary and preventive care, a step aligned with the government’s goal of making healthcare more affordable and inclusive.IMT
