The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) is keeping a close watch on five towns in the Fifth District of Iloilo province to ensure a safe and peaceful conduct of the midterm elections this month.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, said Ajuy, Sara, Estancia, Concepcion, and San Dionisio have been classified as “areas of special concern” for the May 12 polls.

These towns, according to Wanky, have intense political rivalries and experienced violent incidents in previous elections.

PRO-6 deployed more than 1,500 uniformed personnel to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the Antique Police Provincial Office to serve as an augmentation force in the two provinces.

“We have more than enough troops to secure the election as required by the Commission on Elections. This mission will inevitably cause you many challenges as you leave your respective homes and put on hold your routine compliance with the higher office. Your election duty is our primordial concern,” said Wanky.IMT
