MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has fully restored power in Iloilo City affected by Typhoon Tino, after resolving all 397 tickets received through the 24/7 helpline by November 7.
Engineer Joe-Mil Zaporteza, MORE Power Chief Operating Officer, said because of the preparation done days before, no problems were encountered from the 6 substations and 26 feeder lines. However, the distribution lines leading to the houses were affected by trees and posts that fell down.
“We thank our frontline linemen, engineers, and customer service for delivering timely and efficient efforts in restoring power and communicating to our customers. Working with our people enabled us not only to withstand the effects of the typhoon but also to handle the normalization of our services expeditiously,” said Zaporteza.
“We thank our customers for their understanding and cooperation in making this endeavor manageable,” he added.
Each lineman and supervising engineer took things carefully to ensure they too are safe.
This has earned the praise of consumers.
“Salute to Midnight heroes! Bisan tungang gab e naga risgo mag troubleshoot. May God protect all of you,” Raymund M. Cantara said on the MORE Power Facebook page.
“Let’s be more considerate and understanding with our linemen, as they are already risking their lives just to provide our needed electricity. But with the given situation, it’s beyond their control naman kaya let’s be patient and pray for their safety,” said Joanna Grace Beringuel.
Some consumers expressed their worry about the working linemen because even if the typhoon has not yet left Panay Island, they have immediately gone out to fix what’s broken and ensure that the restoration efforts begin immediately.
“Halong gd sir,ok lng kmi mag brown out, importante safe kmu nga mga linemen,,kay grabe daan hangin, bisan ako ga wori man dre s mga kuryente nga gina sag idan ka mga kahoy,” commented by Dy Line.
“Stay safe gid. MADAMO GUID NGA SALAMAT SA INYO SERBISYO BISKAN GABAGYO kag layo kamo ya sa inyo pamilya kag panimalay,” said Faith Jayme.
In case MORE Power has not prepositioned its disaster preparedness plan, there is a huge possibility that the damage will be extensive.
tate weather bureau PAGASA placed Iloilo City in storm signal no. 4 with its eye directly passing it with sustained winds reaching 150km/h.
As the country prepares for another typhoon, MORE Power has once prepositioned its disaster preparedness plan.
