Iloilo Electric Cooperative I (ILECO I) has once again proven why it stands at the forefront of the nation’s rural electrification, sweeping top honors at the joint celebration of the 56th National Electrification Administration (NEA) Anniversary, the 16th National Electrification Awareness Month (NEAM), and the 2025 NEA Lumens Awards and PHILRECA Awards from the Wires at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Classified as a Triple A Mega Large cooperative, ILECO I reaffirmed its position as a national powerhouse by retaining the titles of Top Performing Electric Cooperative and Outstanding Electric Cooperative for 2024.

The cooperative also garnered recognition for single-digit feeder losses, high turnout at its annual general membership assembly, and full liquidation of subsidy funds, highlighting its operational efficiency and strong governance.

From PHILRECA, the cooperative was cited for prompt payment efficiency, exemplary safety and health programs, model cooperative practices, and industry leadership.

“After 54 years of service, ILECO I continues to set the gold standard for electrification, empowering our Member-Consumer-Owners while driving rural progress,” said the cooperative’s management. “Our mission is clear: deliver efficient, reliable, and sustainable power while fostering community development.”

Barangay leaders and community members also praised ILECO I’s hands-on approach. Through active engagement with Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs), the cooperative has maintained high transparency and accountability, ensuring that electrification initiatives meet the evolving needs of local communities.

Not to be outshone, Iloilo Electric Cooperative II (ILECO II) also achieved national recognition, winning awards for fully liquidated subsidy funds, outstanding household energization under the Sinag Award, and maintaining single-digit feeder losses.

ILECO II was likewise named Top Performing and Outstanding Electric Cooperative, adding the Prompt Payor Award, Lumina Zenith Award, and the Legends of the Movement Award to its growing list of accolades.

For Iloilo, these twin triumphs go beyond plaques and trophies—they confirm the province’s status as a benchmark for rural electrification, operational excellence, and community-driven development.

Both cooperatives demonstrate that power distribution is not just a service but a shared mission to light up communities, strengthen local economies, and inspire national progress.

“With ILECO I leading the way, Iloilo shows that electrification, efficiency, and innovation can coexist, setting an example for the entire country,” the NEA noted during the awards ceremony.

As the province basks in this national recognition, local officials and residents celebrate not only the awards but also the lasting impact of reliable, sustainable energy on everyday lives—proof that rural electrification remains a cornerstone of development in Western Visayas.IMT
