State prosecutors on Wednesday, July 23, withdrew their motion for reconsideration against Leila de Lima’s latest acquittal in one of the three drug charges against her.

The prosecutors filed the motion to withdraw on the same day Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said that he talked to Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon for the withdrawal.

“Comes now, the PROSECUTION, through the undersigned panel of Public Prosecutors and unto the Honorable Court, after consultation and upon the instructions of the Honorable Prosecutor General, most respectfully moves for the withdrawal of the Motion for Reconsideration dated 14 July 2025 that was filed on even date,” the motion read.

Those who signed the motion were Provincial Prosecutor Ramoncito Ocampo, City Prosecutor Blas Tuliao, City Prosecutor Laurence Taliping, Deputy City Prosecutor Leilia Llanes, Deputy City Prosecutor Ev angeline Viudez-Canobas, Deputy City Prosecutor Darwin Canete, Senior Assistance City Prosecutor Rudy Ricamora Jr., Senior Assistant City Prosecutor John Quincy Carandang, Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Wendell Bendoval, and Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Alfred Jamora.

Earlier, De Lima thanked Remulla for ordering the withdrawal of the motion. She also asked the Department of Justice to investigate and sanction the prosecutors, who she claims have abused the justice system for years.

“If they are allowed to get away scot-free with what they have done, no one is safe. They should be made to account for what they have done,” she added.IMT
