The Iloilo Provincial Government has released P3.5 million to put up its dazzling Christmas Village at the Capitol grounds this year.
The amount was spent mainly for the installation of lights, giant Christmas tree, and ‘candyland’-inspired decorations.
The Christmas Village was formally unveiled to the public on Friday, Dec. 5, with a lighting ceremony, a lantern parade and a fireworks display.
The ceremonial lighting was led by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque and other provincial officials.
“We aim to make it a family destination; we want it to be fun, foodie-friendly, and welcoming to families during Christmas here at Barangay Kapitolyo,” said Defensor.
Aside from eye-catching installations, visitors can also enjoy outdoor movie screenings, explore the Christmas Bazaar, and delight in street food favorites.
The Christmas Village has become a yearly attraction, drawing thousands of visitors from all walks of life.IMT
