Justice Secretary Boying Remulla said he will respond to the criminal and administrative complaints filed against him over the March arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered Remulla, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, PNP Chief Rommel Marbil, and two others to answer the allegations of arbitrary detention, usurpation of authority or official functions, and false testimony.

“Sasagutin namin ang bawat isyu na lumabas dun, na everything that happened was within legal bounds. Lahat naman yan according to law,” Remulla told reporters.

The order follows Senator Imee Marcos’ call for an investigation into their roles in the arrest of Duterte and his transfer to The Hague.

“The complaint itself parang na weirdan ako kasi hindi naman committee report eh. But, why the haste? Why not wait for the committee report kasi that’s a committee investion. What was contained was the Chairman’s report. So that’s little strange. Anyway, we wil answer,” the DOJ chief said.

Meanwhile, Remulla dismissed Marcos’ probe as mere publicity.

“Parang gusto lang talaga makakuha ng publicity tungkol sa eleksyon. Wala tayong magagawa,” he added.IMT
