IrAero Airlines has launched a direct flight route from Russia to Aklan, home to the world-famous Boracay Island.

The airline’s inaugural flight landed at the Kalibo International Airport on October 25, carrying Russian tourists.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) lauded the new route as a milestone for regional connectivity.

According to CAAP Director General retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario, the direct link will not only boost tourism in Western Visayas but also strengthen the country’s ties with Russia.

IrAero Airlines will operate every Tuesday and Saturday from Kalibo to the cities of Irkutsk and Khabarovsk in Russia, vice versa.

Meanwhile, CAAP assured that it will continue to implement programs that enhance the country’s airport facilities and improve passenger experience.

“CAAP is taking proactive steps to future-proof the country’s aviation sector by investing in modern airport infrastructure, sustainable air transport systems, and expanded international partnerships,” said Del Rosario.IMT
