The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered Vice President Sara Duterte and Atty. Israelito Torreon to submit their comment regarding the motion for reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives.

Both are petitioners in the motion asking the SC to reverse its decision junking the impeachment complaint against Duterte.

They have only 10 days from receipt of the notice to submit their comment.

According to the SC press briefer, “The SC required petitioners Vice President Sara Z. Duterte and Atty. Israelito P. Torreon et al. to comment on the motion within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice.”

On July 25, 2025, the Court, in a 13-0-2 ruling, granted the petitions seeking to dismiss the fourth impeachment complaint against Duterte.

The justices unanimously agreed to dismiss the complaint, with Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa inhibiting and Associate Justice Maria Filomena Singh being on leave.

The SC said the fourth impeachment complaint against Duterte violated the one-year bar rule and her right to due process.IMT
