Senator JV Ejercito has filed a resolution seeking a Senate inquiry into the implementation of the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) amid complaints over costly domestic flights and weak tourism infrastructure.

Ejercito said poor infrastructure—such as airports, seaports, roads, and tourist facilities—has made domestic travel more expensive than trips to nearby ASEAN countries, hurting tourism growth and local communities.

“Kapag mas mura pa ang pamasahe papuntang Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, o Hong Kong kaysa sa sarili nating mga probinsya, malinaw na may mali sa sistema,” according to him.

He stressed the need to review the NTDP to address gaps that limit accessibility, competitiveness, and overall tourist experience.

Under Senate Resolution No. 257, the Senate Committee on Tourism will lead the probe, in aid of legislation, to ensure infrastructure development supports domestic travel and long-term sector growth.

A public hearing with related committees is set for Feb. 3.IMT
