President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Sharon Garin as Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE), Malacañang announced Thursday, July 10.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said Garin, a lawyer and CPA, brings extensive experience in public service, energy policy, and legislation. She previously served as DOE undersecretary and represented the AAMBIS-Owa Partylist in Congress from 2010 to 2022.
Garin has been DOE officer-in-charge since May 2025, succeeding Raphael Lotilla, who now heads the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
A native of Iloilo, Garin holds degrees in Business Management (UP Iloilo), Law (Ateneo), and an MBA from ESADE Business School in Spain. In Congress, she served as deputy speaker and chaired the House Committee on Economic Affairs.IMT
