Following her sterling performance, Bacolod Tay Tung High School’s rising volleyball star Rhose Almendralejo has earned a prestigious spot on the Philippine Women’s U19 National Volleyball Team.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) has announced Almendralejo’s inclusion in a letter addressed to the school’s principal, Engr. Philip Carpina.
To recall, Almendralejo was qualified for the team after a rigorous selection process. She is set to represent the Philippines at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, in Riffa and Manama, Bahrain from October 19 to 29 in The national team is scheduled to depart from Manila on October 17 and will return on October 30.
After her inclusion, the the 16-year-old Visayan ace formally committed to join the National University Lady Bulldogs.
Almendralejo’s current coach Jose Montalbo shared photos of their meeting that sealed Almendralejo’s future with the Lady Bulldogs.
Still a Grade 10 student, she caught the attention of the scouters after winning big in Palarong Pambansa earlier this year, including best outside hitter, best scorer and best server.
She was also the best outside hitter in the 2025 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (SGVIL).
The MVP of that competition in Sam Cantada also a highly-touted ace like Almendralejo, is already part of NU-Nazareth High School and will soon team up with the Bacolod ace to lead the new era of National U volleyball.
Also committing to join NU is her teammate and setter Abigail Labajo, who once won top playmaking honors in the 2024 Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals.IMT Sports
