President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced an additional P1.28 billion cash aid for transport workers, with nationwide distribution set to begin April 6.
“May P1.28 bilyon pa na ibibigay. Magsisimula na ang nationwide na pagbibigay sa April 6,” Marcos Jr. said, noting over 256,000 Metro Manila workers already received P5,000 each.
The government also expanded relief measures, including a 50% fare discount on LRT-2 and MRT-3, free rides in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao, and temporary toll discounts on major expressways for public utility and food transport vehicles.
Starting April 15, vehicles carrying agricultural goods will pay only P1 RORO terminal fee at ports.
The President said fuel subsidies reached over 1.4 million drivers and operators, backed by a P2.5-billion fund, with P300 million already released to thousands of beneficiaries.IMT
