Mayor Raisa Treñas emerged as the biggest spender among Iloilo City candidates in the 2025 local and national elections, according to data released by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
Treñas declared a total campaign expenditure of P716,200, significantly higher than her rival, Roland Magahin, who spent only P29,562.
The lady mayor’s 2025 spending is more than double the P325,999 reported by her father, former mayor Jerry Treñas, during the 2022 elections.
In the congressional race, Representative Julienne Baronda led with expenses amounting to P472,989.23, outspending her opponents, Danilo Purzuelo, who declared P128,265.54, and Mel Carreon with P20,801.75.
Baronda’s 2025 spending also surpassed her 2022 figure of P318,525.17.
Her sister, sitting Vice Mayor Lady Julienne Baronda, topped the vice mayoral race in campaign spending with P264,539, compared to former vice mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, who reported P84,270.73.
Among city council bets, Councilor Rex Marcus Sarabia recorded the highest declared expense at P351,798.62, followed by Councilor Romel Duron with P253,713, and Councilor Lyndon Acap with P158,686.
The lowest spender was Ryan Dave Estrella, who only declared P3,000 in campaign expenses.
Under Section 13 of Republic Act No. 7166, candidates are allowed to spend up to P3 per registered voter, excluding those running for president or vice president.
Section 14 of the same law mandates that all candidates file a Statement of Contributions and Expenses (SOCE) detailing all donations and disbursements related to their campaign.IMT
