Mayor Jerry Treñas will leave the Iloilo City Government in good condition, including the financial aspect, once he steps down from office on June 30.

In a press conference on Tuesday, June 3, Treñas said the city government has P4.11 billion in general funds, P1.3 billion in special education funds, P135 million in local economic and enterprise office funds, and P574 trust fund, including the P297 million disaster fund, deposited with the Development Bank of the Philippines.

“The finances of the city are in the pink of health,” he said.

As early as April 2, the city government has already created its local governance transition team, chaired by the city mayor, and was amended on May 21.

“The setting up of the local governance transition team is essential for maintaining institutional knowledge, upholding the integrity of governance, guaranteeing continuity of service delivery, and cultivating people’s trust in local governance,” said part of Executive Order 31-A.

Treñas said he already talked to incoming mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu, and the transition was quite easy because she knew the people working in the city hall.

“She will be the mayor; she will make the final decision. I already gave her the list of the executive assistants. At the end of my term, all appointments for co-terminus positions are terminated,” he said.

He added that the documents that they need to turn over to the new administration are ready.

“All our documents are transparent,” the outgoing mayor said.PNA
