Senator Erwin Tulfo has called on PAGCOR, the Ad Standards Council (ASC), and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) to immediately review advertisements related to online gambling.

At a September 3 meeting, the groups discussed ways to curb gambling addiction. Officials said ads of legal operators undergo pre-clearance, but illegal platforms like 1xBet continue to advertise freely, especially on social media.

Tulfo noted that while ASC and KBP regulate ads on traditional media, they have no authority over Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. He said he will summon representatives from Meta, TikTok, and Google to a Senate hearing on September 11 to push for stricter controls, alongside law enforcement and the DICT.

The agencies also agreed to use an ad template allowing only “responsible gambling” slogans.

Earlier, Tulfo filed Senate Bill No. 1304 or the Anti-Online Gambling Act, which seeks to ban online gambling operations, betting, advertising, and related transactions.IMT
