Cultural dominance turned into history as the Tultugan Festival of Maasin, Iloilo clinched its third consecutive championship at the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan 2026, officially sealing its place as a Hall of Fame awardee and the competition’s most formidable force.

The Maasin contingent overwhelmed the judges with a performance marked by precision, creativity, and raw energy, sweeping major recognitions including the Circular Creativity Award, Best in Street Dancing, Best Musical Director, Best in Costume, Best in Production Design, and Best in Music—a commanding sweep that left little doubt about its supremacy.

The latest triumph added to Tultugan’s growing legacy, following championship wins in Kasadyahan 2024 and 2025, establishing the group as a consistent benchmark in regional festival performance.

Maasin Mayor Francis Amboy described the victory as a shared achievement of the town’s people, crediting the community’s unity and resilience for the festival’s continued success.

“This win belongs to every Maasinhanon. Thank you to everyone who supported us and stood with us through every challenge,” he said.

The mayor revealed that preparations were compressed into just 10 days before the event, with performers enduring grueling rehearsals and multiple setbacks—making the championship both hard-earned and deeply symbolic.

Riding the momentum of its Kasadyahan dominance, Tultugan is now eyeing bigger stages, with plans underway to compete in the Dinagyang Tribes Competition next year, a move that could further elevate the town’s cultural profile.

“I am planning to join the Dinagyang Festival,” Amboy said, expressing confidence in the group’s ability to compete at the highest level.

Participation in the Aliwan Fiesta in Manila, however, will depend on the endorsement of Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., the mayor added.

Finishing first runner-up was the Kahilwayan Festival of Santa Barbara, which impressed judges and audiences alike, earning Best in Choreography, Best in Performance, Best Choreographer, Ingenuity Award, and the People’s Choice Award.

The Kasag Festival of Banate secured second runner-up, drawing praise for its dynamic performance and compelling cultural narrative.

Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan remains one of the flagship events of the Dinagyang Festival, showcasing the province’s diverse cultural heritage and the creative strengths of Iloilo’s municipalities.IMT
