Uswag Ilonggo Party-list Representative Jojo Ang has refuted claims that he is involved in anomalous flood control projects.

In a statement, Ang “strongly and categorically denied”  the “baseless accusations” made by contractors Curlee and Sara Discaya during a Senate hearing on Monday, Sept. 8.

According to the Discayas, Ang and several other members of the House of Representatives received up 25 percent of project funds.

“I am totally surprised that my name has been mentioned. It is unfortunate that some interested parties have chosen to resort name-dragging for their personal agenda,” he said.

“It is a convenient distraction from the real issues. I urge the public to be circumspect and to remain focused on the facts.” Ang added.

The  lawmaker from Iloilo also denounced “all types of corruption that prejudices not just the government but undermines the trust reposed to us by the Filipino people.”

Ang said he is one with the people in exacting accountability from those responsible for robbing Filipinos of their hard-earned taxes.

“Then and now, I have adhered to my mandate to serve heeople and the sector I represent with integrity. My actions have been and will always be guided by my commitment to fulfill that trust,” Ang stressed.IMT
