Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva has called on the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to issue a clear and strict policy banning online gambling among government officials and employees.
Villanueva said the CSC must update its existing casino ban to cover online platforms, noting that these are now easier for workers to access and could lead to addiction, corruption, and “get-rich-quick” schemes.
The current policy already bars government personnel, including police, military, and other uniformed services, from entering casinos and gambling venues.
The senator from Bulacan urged the CSC to extend this to online gambling and prohibit its use during official hours.
“Huwag po nating hintayin na mahulog sila sa kumunoy ng adiksyon, lalo na at napakadali na ngayong tumaya sa online sugal,” he said, stressing the need for immediate action.IMT
