Four international cruise ships are set to visit the world-famous Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan in the last quarter of 2023.

The cruise ships from Europe and the United States of America (USA) will arrive on the island in November and December.

Niven Maquirang, executive assistant of Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores, said the cruise ships will bring in around 10 thousand passengers to Boracay.

MV Norwegian Jewel of the Norwegian Cruise Line will have it’s maiden call on November 3. It will return on November 29 and December 1.

MS Westerdam of Holland America Line and Star Breeze by Windstar Cruises will also have their maiden call on November 7 and December 2, respectively.

MV Seven Seas Explorer is scheduled to visit the island on November 17.

Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista said these cruise ship arrivals would help the economy of the island and the province bounce back.

“These cruise ships are carrying international passengers and tourists. These tourists disembark and have short visits and explorations of the white-sand beaches, museums, souvenir shops, and restaurants. They will witness and experience the beauty of the island and, at the same time, participate in the economic activities.”

Boracay accommodated 1,715,194 tourists from January 1 to October 15 this year. Of the number, 1,343,445 were domestic tourists; 337,152 were international tourists; and 34,597 were overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or overseas Filipinos (OFs).IMT
