Nearly all residents of Western Visayas are now registered with PhilHealth, with coverage reaching 96.74%, Iloilo City Rep. Julienne “Jam Jam” Baronda reported.
Her office recently signed a memorandum of agreement with PhilHealth and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to facilitate registration and monitor the delivery of healthcare services.
“Our mission is clear: close the remaining gap and ensure accessible, quality healthcare for every Ilonggo—from our top leadership to every household in the community,” said Baronda.
Senior citizens and bedridden patients will be among those given special attention under the agreement.
Baronda thanked Sen. JV Ejercito, author of the Universal Health Care Act, as well as PhilHealth Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez Jr., Marjorie A. Cabrieto and Dr. Arlyn E. Siaotong for supporting the initiative.
“Ang ikaayong lawas sang tagsa ka Ilonggo, indi dapat mangin pribilehiyo kundi kinamatarong nga PARA SA TANAN,” Baronda said.IMT
