Police and education officials in Iloilo City have met to discuss measures to prevent and curb the sale of marijuana to students and strengthen anti-illegal drug efforts in schools.
Representatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), Department of Education-Schools Division of Iloilo City (DepEd-SDO), and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED-6) attended the coordination meeting on September 29, 2026.
The police delegation included personnel from the Regional Community Affairs and Development Unit (RCADU), Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU 6), and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Participants discussed information on the reported sale of marijuana in the city and strategies to strengthen drug prevention initiatives in schools.
They also explored capacity-building activities for parents and the establishment of Cyber Warriors in schools as part of information and awareness campaigns against illegal drugs.
A proposed memorandum of agreement was also discussed to strengthen inter-agency coordination in addressing marijuana-related concerns and other school security issues.
ICPO City Director Police Col. Wilbert Parilla underscored the importance of cooperation among agencies in protecting students and raising awareness of the dangers of illegal drugs.IMT
