Batang Pinoy, the country’s premier grassroots sports program, is set to take place across Bacolod City this coming December 12–18, 2026, according to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

Led by Chairman Patrick C. Gregorio and Commissioner & Batang Pinoy Project Director Olivia ‘Bong’ G. Coo—alongside host Bacolod City, the Department of Education (DepEd), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), officially launched the event during a press conference at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.

Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya, City Administrator Atty. Mark Mayo, DILG Undersecretary Rolando Puno, and DepEd Director Miguel Mantaring graced the launching of Batang Pinoy which features 30 sports, including the addition of 5×5 basketball, baseball, bowling, golf, and skateboarding.

These inclusions are part of the synchronization and harmonization efforts between the PSC’s Batang Pinoy and DepEd’s Palarong Pambansa. The competition is open to all young, aspiring athletes aged 8 to 15 years old.IMT Sports
