An 80-year-old bedridden woman died in a fire that erupted in Barangay Anoring, Sara, Iloilo, on Tuesday evening, April 28.
The victim, identified as Marina Sanico, was trapped inside their house when the fire broke out at 9:10 p.m.
The fire, which lasted for three hours and was declared out at 12:12 a.m., gutted four houses, affecting more 30 individuals, including boarders.
Based on the Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) initial investigation, the blaze could have been caused by a lighted mosquito coil left unattended at the victim’s house.
The cost of damage to property has yet to be determined.IMT
