The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) collected P203.581 billion in taxes in September 2026, up by P20.056 billion or 10.93% from the same month last year.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro reported the figures during a Palace press briefing, attributing the increase to improved taxpayer compliance and the bureau’s collection efforts.

BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza credited taxpayers who voluntarily comply with tax rules, along with the agency’s efforts to make tax payments easier.

These measures include improving taxpayer services, simplifying payment procedures and providing assistance to those meeting their tax obligations.

The BIR aims to meet or exceed its collection targets through these initiatives.IMT
