A woman from the town of Tigbauan in the province of Iloilo who gave birth to triplets tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

She underwent an emergency cesarean section operation at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City on Monday, Aug. 30.

The premature babies are intubated. They will be subjected to RT-PCR tests for COVID-19.

Despite yielding negative results from their swab tests, the father of the triplets and other members of their household are still required to undergo quarantine.

In a Facebook post, Evangeline Felicana, a health worker in Barangay Buyu-an, said the family is in dire need of financial assistance.

In Iloilo City, a three-month-old baby died of COVID-19 while a one-day-old baby contracted the viral disease.

The mother of the infected one-day-old baby tested positive for COVID-19 while being admitted to a hospital in the city for her delivery, but was already tagged as recovered.
