Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. expects a slowdown in the increase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Iloilo province with the implementation of the “municipal quarantine” and the imposition of travel restrictions.

An executive order (EO) was issued by Defensor to prohibit non-essential travel into and within the province from June 4 to June 18, 2021.

“We have to capacitate ourselves to deal with or attend to our patients with COVID-19 and we have to counter the increasing trend of transmission by reducing the circulation of people in the province,” the governor said.

To ensure the strict implementation of EO No. 175, Defensor issued a memorandum to Iloilo Police Provincial Office director, municipal and city chiefs of police, city and municipal mayors, local task forces, and punong barangays.

The province, based on the June 6 bulletin issued by the Provincial Health Office (PHO), has 8,648 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Of the number, 6,569 have recovered, 201have died and 1,878 are considered active cases.IMT
