Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. is leaving to due process the complaint filed by Iloilo City Councilor Nene Dela Llana against Provincial Public Information and Community Affairs Office (PICAO) Chief Jose Nereo Lujan over his social media posts.
Defensor signed the show-cause order served by the Provincial Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) to Lujan on October 5, following Dela Llana’s complaint.
The governor said the provincial government will constitute a fact-finding body to investigate the complaint and determine whether there is sufficient basis for the appropriate legal proceedings.
Defensor said the evidence must first be established and both parties given an opportunity to be heard before he comments on or decides on the matter.
The governor also declined to comment further on Lujan’s social media posts, saying the issues must first be addressed through the proper process and on the basis of applicable legal grounds.
Provincial government legal officer Atty. Dennis Ventilacion earlier said Lujan has three days to respond to the show-cause order served on him on October 5.
The exchange of social media comments between the parties stemmed from Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas Chu’s announcement that the city would deploy civilian drivers to augment personnel of the Iloilo City Police Office.IMT
