The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is continuing flood-mitigation efforts under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Oplan Kontra Baha as the rainy season sets in.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said government agencies are working together to ensure floodwaters recede faster in flood-prone areas.
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang paghahanda ng gobyerno para sa pagpasok ng tag-ulan,” Castro said, quoting DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon.
Dizon said dredging, clearing, and declogging operations have been ongoing since November 2025, while maintenance crews are being quickly deployed to flooded areas.
Castro said completed drainage projects along G. Araneta Avenue, E. Rodriguez Avenue, A. Bonifacio Avenue, and Taft Avenue are already showing results.
Residents have reportedly noticed better drainage and faster floodwater recession during heavy rains.IMT
