Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon will not run for any position in the 2022 elections.

“Mapahuway naman ako, ma-retire ako. I am not interested being a candidate in this election,” Drilon said in an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo.

“Let’s give a chance sa iban nga kaupdanan naton,” he added.

According to the Senate minority leader, he would retire from public service if there is no appointive position given to him in the next administration.

“You know, I have been in the service probably for 30 years. Madamo man ako nabuligan. Madamo man ako bulig sa aton kasimanwa. Kag limpyo man aton panunungkulan,” he said.

Nevertheless, Drilon vowed that he would support his political allies gunning for elective posts in the 2022 polls.

He specifically mentioned Vice President Leni and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.

“Buligan ko si Leni Robredo sa iya kompanya. Sa lokal, I would support Jerry Treñas,” he said.

Robredo is being pushed to run for president while Treñas is seeking reelection.IMT
