Former Senate President Franklin Drilon said former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co may seek asylum in the Czech Republic as part of efforts to exhaust all legal remedies.
In an interview on Bilyonaryo News Channel’s At The Forefront, Drilon said the move is possible but will depend on Czech authorities.
“The seeking of asylum and the grounds therefor would be within the competence and jurisdiction of the Czech Republic,” the senator from Iloilo City said.
He added that approval rests on Czech discretion and EU rules. “Whether or not it will be granted is something that’s beyond me,” according to him.
Drilon said he would not be surprised by such a move. He noted that individuals in similar cases typically exhaust all legal options under the law.IMT
