Energy and food security will be among the key topics in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russia.

According to DFA Deputy Assistant Secretary Dominic Xavier Imperial, the two leaders are expected to discuss issues affecting both countries, including the impact of Middle East tensions on food and energy supplies.

“The meeting will most likely focus on food security and energy security – that is mutually important for both countries, for the Philippines and Russia,” Imperial said.

The leaders are also expected to discuss tourism, education, science and technology, cultural exchanges, and other areas of cooperation.

The visit marks Marcos Jr.’s first trip to Russia as president and coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Russia.IMT
