Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez has hailed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Canada visit as a success, saying it strengthened ties and brought fresh investment pledges.
“Maituturing natin na isang matagumpay ang pagbisita ng ating Pangulo dito sa Canada,” Gomez said, noting it was the first visit by a Philippine president to Canada in over a decade.
He said both countries elevated relations to a Strategic Partnership and committed to conclude the Philippines-Canada Free Trade Agreement this year, along with the ASEAN-Canada FTA.
Gomez also highlighted four cooperation agreements covering labor, energy, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
He added that Canadian firms committed about US$2.5 billion in investments in mining, energy, services, and IT-BPM, which are expected to generate more jobs.IMT
