A high-value drug target yielded more than P1.3 million worth of suspected “shabu” and an unlicensed firearm during an operation Mandurriao district.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Romar,” 49, was apprehended at his residence in Zone 3, Brgy. Pali Benedicto on Thursday morning, May 7.
According to the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-6), the operation was the culmination of nearly two months of intense monitoring and surveillance.
During the search, operatives recovered 30 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing roughly 200 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price (SDP) of P1,360,000.
Authorities also seized a .38 caliber pistol loaded with four live rounds of ammunition, along with four improvised tooters and various drug paraphernalia.
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) commended the joint elements of the RPDEU-6, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Police Station 5, Regional Intelligence Division 6, City Intelligence Unit, and the SWAT team for the successful bust.
“This successful operation reflects the strong commitment of our police personnel in protecting our communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs and criminality,” Ligan stated.
“The confiscation of these illegal substances and firearm prevented possible threats to public safety and saved many live,” he added.
The suspect now detained at a police facility and will face multiple charges. These include violations of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Romar will also be charged for violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.IMT
