Travelers at the Iloilo International Airport can now breeze through check-in with less hassle as the management officially scrapped the facility’s initial screening checkpoint.
Implemented on Friday,October 10, the change follows the directive of DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez to enhance passenger comfort while upholding world-class aviation security.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Ret. Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario welcomed the reform, saying it mirrors the country’s commitment to “smart, secure, and seamless” air travel.
“This step balances convenience and safety while aligning our airports with global aviation practices,” he said.
To complement the move, the airport reactivated its Employees’ Entrance, creating a secure, separate passage for personnel. The setup ensures smoother terminal operations and stronger internal control.
Engr. Eusebio Monserate Jr., Acting Area Manager of CAAP Area Center VI, said the adjustments marked a milestone in airport management.
“We are improving efficiency without compromising security—making every passenger’s journey faster and safer,” he said.
Ahead of the rollout, the Airport Security Committee fine-tuned operational details, redeploying screening equipment and reorganizing staff to maintain tight safeguards.
Officials assured that while the first checkpoint is gone, the airport remains fully compliant with aviation safety standards, merging convenience and control in one flight-ready system.IMT
