For local entrepreneurs, every new market opens the door to bigger opportunities. For 12 Iloilo City micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Manila FAME 2026 was a chance to bring their products to a wider audience, meet potential buyers, and show what Ilonggo craftsmanship has to offer.

Through the support of the Iloilo City Government under Mayor Raisa S. Treñas and the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC), 12 local MSMEs participated in the design and lifestyle trade show held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila from October 15 to 17.

Their participation generated P3.1 million in sales, consisting of P1.7 million in booked and cash sales and P1.4 million in negotiated sales.

But beyond the figures, the city government sees trade fairs like Manila FAME as an investment in the growth of local enterprises and the communities behind their products.

From hablon and indigenous embroidery to capiz, bamboo, rattan, and nito crafts, the participating MSMEs brought products that reflect Iloilo’s rich cultural heritage and the skills of local artisans.

The exhibitors were Modern Ilongga, Lampirong Collection, Iloilo Capiz Shell Flowers and Antiques, Balai Ilonggo, Owlkelmy Curios, Cuaycong Native Products, WUTHLE Association, Salngan Livelihood MPC, Indag-an MPC, Rattanology, Maasin Bamboo Association, and Erik Castelo Philippines.

For Mayor Treñas, opening doors to wider markets also means creating opportunities for the people who make these products. Increased orders can translate into more work for hablon weavers, sewers, handicraft makers, and other local workers whose skills sustain these industries.

The city’s participation also earned recognition from the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), which named Iloilo City an Outstanding LGU Partner.

The recognition highlights the importance of local government support in helping MSMEs gain market exposure, establish business connections, and become more competitive.

It also builds on the city’s participation in the 2025 edition of Manila FAME, where seven local MSMEs generated P1.1 million in sales.

Behind this continuing effort is a network of partners, including the Iloilo City Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office, MIGEDC, Department of Trade and Industry Region VI, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry–Iloilo, MORE Power, PhilExport, exhibit curator and product collection designer PJ Arañador, and other sponsors.

From Iloilo to bigger markets, the goal is not simply to put Ilonggo products on display, but to help local enterprises grow and create more opportunities for Ilonggos.
