The Labor Day observance in Iloilo City concluded peacefully and without any major disruptions on Friday, May 1, according to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Based on an assessment conducted by the City Tactical Operations Center (CTOC) covering the period from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., no untoward incidents occurred in the city.
During the period, three groups were granted the necessary permits to hold peaceful public assemblies to mark the observance
ICPO director Police Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla attributed the orderly observance to early coordination between organizers and law enforcement, as well as comprehensive security preparations.
Prior to the holiday, Parilla directed all unit and station commanders to intensify ground monitoring and maximize police visibility.
To ensure public safety, the ICPO strategically deployed regular personnel, mobile patrols, and Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) contingents to areas where rallies and related activities were held.
While the police strictly implemented local guidelines, including the city’s “No Permit, No Rally” regulation, the ICPO emphasized that its personnel remained committed to upholding and respecting human rights throughout the day’s operations.
“Our peaceful Labor Day observance reflects the cooperation between the police, organizers, and the community. We thank everyone for exercising discipline, respect, and responsibility throughout the day,” said Parilla.IMT
