Some P39.18 million has been allocated by the Iloilo City Government for the 2026 edition of the Dinagyang Festival.
Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) executive director Joyce Clavecillas said more than half of the amount will go to subsidies for the seven competing tirbes.
Each tribe, according to her, will receive a total of P2.3 million, higher compared to this year’s subsidy of P1.8 million.
The tribes competing in the highlight of the Dinagyang 2026 include Tribu Taga-Baryo of Barangay Barrio Obrero, Lapuz; Tribu Ilonganon, Jalandoni Memorial High School; Tribu Bulawanon sang Molo, Molo District; Tribu Salognon, Jaro National High School; Tribu Paghidaet, La Paz National High School; Tribu Pan-ay, Fort San Pedro National High School; and Tribu Ilayanhon of Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School.
For the Sadsad sa Calle Real (interactive street dancing competition), the participating groups will get P700,000.
These groups are Tribu Parianon, Tribu Yrong-Yrong, Tribu Aninipay, Tribu Familia Sagasa, Tribu Molave, and Tribu Panaad.
Clavecillas said the remaining amount would be spent for cash prizes and logistical requirements of the festival.
The Dinagyang 2026 was officially launched last month. Next year’s staging is anchored on theme, “Bugay sang Ginoo, Bugal sang mga Ilonggo” (Blessings from God, Pride of the Ilonggos).IMT
