Authorities arrested a drug suspect and seized illegal methamphetamine or shabu worth more than P1 million in a buy-bust operation in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City on Good Friday, March 29.
The suspect was identified as Rodney Tabangcura, 38, of Dumangas town in Iloilo province. The high-value target sold a sachet of shabu worth P17 thousand to a poseur buyer at a hotel in Barangay San Rafael.
Revocered from Tabangcura were 225 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P1.5 million, and the marked money used in the drug sting.
According to Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the suspect is a drug supplier in the city and several towns in the province.
The operation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Team of the Mandurriao police station, Arevalo police station, ICPO’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-6).
Tabangcura, who is currently under police custody, will face charges for the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.IMT
