Dengue cases in Iloilo province fell by 65 percent during the first half of 2026, but health authorities continue to urge residents not to let their guard down as dengue-related deaths have still been recorded.

Data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed that 873 dengue cases were reported from January 4 to June 27, 2026 (Morbidity Week 25), significantly lower than the 2,509 cases logged during the same period in 2025.

Despite the sharp decline, Dr. Rodney Labis, head of the PHO’s Health Service Delivery Division, said the public should continue observing dengue prevention measures and support the provincial government’s anti-dengue campaign to prevent another surge in infections.

Labis noted that six dengue-related deaths have been recorded this year, with two fatalities reported in Estancia and one each in the municipalities of Ajuy, Carles, San Dionisio, and Dingle.

He also reminded residents to seek immediate medical attention if they develop symptoms associated with dengue, such as persistent fever and skin rashes, stressing that early consultation and treatment remain critical in preventing severe complications and deaths.

The PHO continues to encourage households and communities to regularly eliminate mosquito breeding sites by cleaning their surroundings and removing stagnant water where dengue-carrying mosquitoes lay their eggs.IMT
