Downpours across the province and city of Iloilo have already exceeded the normal amount of rainfall for the entire month of August, according to PAGASA.
The state weather bureau recorded 466.5 millimeters (mm) of rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat) and other weather disturbances from August 1 to 26 this year.
PAGASA-Iloilo weather forecasterLeonor Silvestre said there is a high possibility that vulnerable areas will be flooded again.
”The water can no longer soak into the ground, as it is already saturated from the continuous and heavy rainfall,” he explained.
Silvestre advised residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain on high alert and closely monitor the latest updates from PAGASA.IMT
