The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4 over Iloilo City due to Typhoon Tino.

TCWS No. 4 — the highest storm signal — means that winds with speeds ranging between 118 to 184 kilometers per hour (kph) are expected in the area within 12 hours.

Aside from Iloilo City, PAGASA also placed the southern and central portions of Iloilo province under  TCWS NO. 4

Tino, based on PAGASA’s No. 4 bulletin, was last spotted in the vicinity of Mahaplag, Leyte, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 205 kph, and central pressure of 960 hPa.

Tino made its first landfall over Silago, Southern, Leyte at 12 am on Tuesday, November 3.

The typhoon is forecast to traverse the Visayas and northern Palawan until it emerges over the West Philippine Sea by Wednesday morning, Nov. 5.

“Due to interaction with the terrain, TINO may slightly weaken while crossing the Visayas. However, it is expected to remain at typhoon category throughout its passage over the country,” said PAGASA.

Tino is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning, Nov. 6.IMT
