Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) will be temporarily disallowed from operating in Iloilo City starting tomorrow, March 21.

The suspension, which will be in effect until April 14, 2020, is part of the implementation of the “enhanced community quarantine” in the entire city.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said he observed that most of the PUJs do not observe the one-meter social distancing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-9).

Only jeepneys carrying farm produce, hardware tools, and other essential products will be allowed to enter the city.

Also exempted are tricycles, buses, and taxis.

Treñas said Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-6) committed to provide 10 buses for health workers and others who work at the frontlines to prevent the entry of COVID-19.IMT
